Elephant Headed-Hindu God Sri Ganesha

The son of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesha has an elephantine countenance with a curved trunk and big ears, and a huge pot-bellied body of a human being. In his four hands he customarily holds a shell, a (ladoo)sweet, a mace and a water-lily. His unusual steed is a rat. He is the Lord of success and destroyer of evils and obstacles. He is also worshipped as the god of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth.

1) Sitting Ganesha : Ganesh is seated on a lotus flower base. In His hand he holds a rope, an axe, his and a ball of sweets.A rat, his vahana or vehicle is at his feet nibbling on a ladhu.Ganesh's characteristic pot belly is bound with a cobra. The cobra is an animal usually associated with Shiva, a reminder that Ganesh is his son. His right hand is held up in the abhaya mudra.

2) Dancing Ganesha : Ganesh is dancing holding an axe, a noose, his tusk, a ball of sweets and two lotus flowers. His vehicle, the rat, is looking up at him in awe.
