Doing  Yogasana and exercises does not fully influence the functioning of the brain. Chanting 'Om' influences the entire brain. The stunning electrifying effect of 'Om' cleanses unwanted deposits in the brain and promotes well-being.

Aum is the sound of God, it symbolizes the beginning and creation of the universe, a manifestation of the incomprehensible divine energy, Om is our eternal breath and the source of our prana.
Om is made up of 3 syllables- aa, au and ma , Sanskrit alphabets strung together make the sound Aum or Om.
Om is the beginning of all sounds and the end of all sounds . Om is the mantra that reverberates through your chakras, resonating, energizing and awakening the kundalini.
Sacredness and divinity, consciousness and oblivion all merge into Om, the path to absolute bliss, where all energies converge and ultimately the formless, stateless eternity emerges.

Om' is a solemn and sacred exclamation. Chanting 'Om' is a purifying experience for all Hindus. It is a source of great happiness. 'Om' is the most sacred word. Now-a-days, it is also written as Aum.
The three-syllable a+u+m represent and invoke Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh(Shankar) and asks for their blessings. The three syllables also represents the three Vedas - Rig-Veda, Yajur-Veda and Sama-Veda. 'Om' is the source of all religious vedic scriptures.
The syllable 'a' carries mankind like a horse. The syllable 'u' is a pointer to the condition and location. The syllable 'm' is indicative of the rhythm and melody of life. The uttering of the sacred and mystical 'Om' is called Om-kar.
It is the melody of life. It is the sound of Brahma. It is the predominating force and power. For this reason chanting 'Om' before every auspicious activity is essential.
OM is considered both mystical and powerful. Since time immemorial, devotees have had great reverence for 'Om-kar'. There is much in praise of 'Om' in all the religious books. 'Om' must be chanted in a high and prolonged note with great devotion. Chanting produces a quivering sensation and power within and affects every part of the body. The mind experiences unity and strength.
