Antique Teak Barn Doors Rustic Carved Ranch Farmhouse Double Doors 81

Antique Indian architectural elements are like a story unfolding from the past. The name jharokha comes from the Sanskrit words jhar, meaning "to watch," and okha, meaning "window." Carved from solid wood, these projecting latticed windows were a mainstay in Indian architectural havelis, their floral and nature inspired patterns weaving together in ornamental details. During the 16th through 18th centuries these terrace windows became elaborate architectural trademarks, more formal and ornamental than the English or French balcony window. Royalty used them to observe public life from above while remaining unseen, and nobility addressed crowds from their overhanging balconies — a window that was never merely a window.

What makes jharokhas so visually commanding — their cusped arches, layered carved borders, and latticed frames — is precisely what makes them so transformative when brought indoors. Repurposed terrace windows and jharokhas have been creatively transformed into consoles and mantels, while ancient corbels are reintegrated into architectural designs — pieces that not only capture the beauty of the past but align with a commitment to the principles of wellness in environmentally sustainable design.

Jharokhas as Coffee Tables

Every table in the Mogul Interior collection began as something else — a carved door from a Rajasthani haveli, a jharokha window salvaged from a merchant's house, an antique door that once formed the threshold between inside and outside. Repurposed and set on legs — iron, pillar-turned wood, or hand-hammered brass-studded frames — these vintage coffee tables arrive in your home already carrying decades of life in their grain.

Crafted from a reclaimed jharokha or terrace window from an Indian estate, the brass-clad accent table adds a touch of vintage-modern sophistication. The warm tones of the wood and subtle metallic highlights make it ideal for eclectic, bohemian, or contemporary interiors. Intricate hand-carved details enhanced with decorative brass cladding, the aged patina and rustic texture celebrate the character of the reclaimed wood.

Arched Jharokha Doors as Armoires

Each antique architectural element tells a story of heritage and culture, carefully handcrafted using wood from old Indian homes and palaces, repurposed to create beautiful furniture with eclectic charm — from old door tables into functional art pieces, to vintage armoires boasting detailed carvings, to rustic sideboards and console tables where the warmth and natural texture of aged wood add character and depth to interiors.

Carved armoires work beautifully as bedroom centerpieces but also as living room statement pieces — housing a bar, a record collection, or a home altar. Their scale and warmth anchor any room they inhabit.

Antique Jharokhas as Headboards and Architectural Statements

Reclaimed door coffee tables, distressed wood dressers with floral carvings, and rustic sideboards infuse interiors with positive energy and wellness character. Large hand-carved king-size beds, antique doorways and arches, and headboards elevate spaces into something deeply storied.

The jharokha archway mounted above a bed frames the space like a canopy of carved woods and a story. The scalloped cusped opening flanked by ornate columns brings a feeling of old palaces and medieval mansions. The antique architectural archway serves as the captivating focal point — arched vintage doors that open from inside the house to the garden patio, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. Hand-carved from solid reclaimed wood, ornate archways feature intricate floral and geometric carvings, evoking the grandeur of historic palaces and heritage havelis
